Yoga Therapy

Yoga therapy combines the practices of yoga (breathing, movement, deep relaxation & meditation) with a therapeutic approach to mental and physical wellbeing.

The Yoga Therapy practice is fully tailored to your health needs.

Yoga Therapy is a self-empowering process, where I help you implement a personalised and evolving practice to connect with your full self - your body, your mind, your emotions and your intuition. This practice addresses dis-ease with a multi-dimensional approach and aims to relieve suffering in a progressive, non-invasive and complementary way.

Yoga Therapy can help address matters of the heart, mind and body. It is particularly appropriate for many chronic conditions that persist despite conventional medical treatment. Depending on the nature of the dis-ease, Yoga Therapy can be preventative as well as help manage illness or facilitate healing at all levels.

During our first session we will to get to know each other and talk about what needs or issues you would like to address through Yoga Therapy. We may discuss your symptoms and how you have been addressing them so far, your family history, sleep patterns, energy and stress levels and mental health. During the following sessions, we will explore various approaches together to address your objectives through movement, breathing, meditation and deep relaxation. The framework I provide for Yoga Therapy is trauma-informed and pain-free.

Where appropriate, I work within the guidelines of your medical physician and can offer complementary support to any other health professionals that are supporting your recovery (i.e. physiotherapist, etc)

Additionally, you may be provided with a tailored at-home practice guide, to continue your practice between sessions. This could include anything from practicing certain exercises or breathing techniques, to meditative practices, keeping a food or sleep diary, journaling or doing a little reading that may help provide context for your next session.

  • Grief and loss
Losing someone close to us can be a painful experience, and it's not just the loss of a family member or friend that can cause grief. Even the loss of a pet, a move away from friends, retirement, or any other significant life changes can lead to grief. Sometimes, just the thought of losing someone, such as when undergoing IVF treatment or facing one's own mortality, can also bring up feelings of grief and loss. The death of a child or the suicide of a loved one can be especially challenging to deal with. In these situations, Yoga Therapy can help to calm overwhelming thoughts and emotions, promote overall well-being and resilience during difficult times, and keep your nervous system balanced. This allows you to regulate your emotions better and find peace with the presence of grief in your life.
If you are experiencing grief, please don't hesitate to contact me. I'm here to help you feel more centered, find strength in your vulnerability, and move forward with peace and gratitude.
